Anyone who owns a signed professional player jersey knows how precious of a commodity they have. Likely, if you own such an item, you’ve got it showcased under glass in your man or woman cave.

Imagine the surprise that Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson experienced when he opened a random package from NBA legend Michael Jordan. The package from “His Airness” included a hand-autographed Chicago Bills home jersey with an inscription that read:

Stay Strong

We can tell by Peterson’s tweet that he is beyond honored.

Peterson said,

“[He] just sent me a gift.”

Peterson plans to hang the six-time NBA champ’s jersey in his game room.

The cornerback explained his experience of meeting Jordan a couple of years ago at a charity golf event, recalling that Jordan addressed him as “P squared” for Peterson’s initials. How cool is that?

Peterson ranks Jordan—who played with the Bulls for 13 years—up there with NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, and refers to them as two of the “coolest stars” he has met.

Those guys are so down to earth,” Peterson said (h/t ESPN). “They are very genuine with people. You can tell, being in their position, their spotlights, they respect others in their profession as well. That’s just how it was with Michael Jordan.”

This is quite a humble statement, coming from Peterson, who in his four-year NFL career has already played in four consecutive Pro Bowls and earned Pro-Bowl status twice.

We certainly can admire Peterson for keeping it real and being one of the classier guys in the NFL.
