The United States Women’s National Team won a thriller over England Tuesday, 2-1, despite the absence of star Megan Rapinoe.
Rapinoe was a stunning scratch, and speculation was running rampant until it was finally determined she suffered a minor hamstring strain.
Without her in the lineup, Alex Morgan came through with the go-ahead goal — on her birthday no less — and the Americans advanced to the Final, where they’ll face either Netherlands or Sweden.
After the victory, Rapinoe said she is day to day with the hamstring strain, and that she thinks she’ll be ready for the Final.
The U.S. Women’s National Team is deep and strong. Yet there’s no doubt it will have a better chance of winning the Women’s World Cup with Rapinoe in the lineup and healthy than it will without here.
