Fresh off celebrating his 21st birthday earlier this weekend, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is dealing with yet another injury. Head coach Rick Carlisle noted on Sunday that Doncic is dealing with a thumb injury and will not suit up against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Doncic has missed several games due to various ankle injuries this season. Though, this is the first time he’s popped up with a thumb injury.
The sophomore wing has been absolutely incredible this season. Doncic is averaging 28.6 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists on 46% shooting from the field. The expectation here is that this injury will not be of the long-term variety.
Dallas heads into Sunday’s game boasting a 36-24 record and as the seventh seed in the Western Conference. It is just 3.5 games behind the Houston Rockets for a top-four seed. Needless to say, the team wants Doncic healthy for the stretch run.
