Three days of rain, wind gusts over 30 mph and temperatures in the 40s might sound like the Open Championship, but that’s the weather forecast rolling into Augusta, Ga., and The Masters this weekend.

After opening with profuse sunshine and highs in the mid-80s on Thursday, the weather outlook is ominous for golf’s first major of the season.

A windy weekend with a steady 20-25 mph breeze should dry out the course after rainfall expected Friday and Saturday. Morning rain chances are over 80 percent both days.

Saturday will be chilly and top out around 55 with lows in the 40s. Last year, the Saturday high of 55 degrees was the fourth-coolest high for any round in the tournament, according to the Southeast Regional Climate Center.

The high temperature on Sunday is projected to be 61 degrees with wind gusts up to 27 mph.

By using a vacuum system, the grounds of Augusta National tend to try quickly.

Weather delays are common at The Masters, but the event hasn’t finished on Monday since 1983.
