Raptors GM Masai Ujiri

Recently, as the NBA Finals was still ongoing, a report emerged that the Washington Wizards were charging hard after Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri. On Tuesday as he addressed media at a press conference, Ujiri made it clear he isn’t going anywhere.

As noted by Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun, Ujiri said he loves being in Toronto, that his wife does too, and that their kids are Canadian.

Additionally, Ujiri said he expects to speak with Kawhi Leonard soon, noting he has had good conversations with him and his representation.

Finally, he addressed the ongoing police investigation into an allegation he punched a police officer following the Raptors’ Game 6 win over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

The Raptors have certainly built a tremendous roster with Ujiri at the helm. Now that he has confirmed he is staying in Toronto, the task of keeping the team together, and potentially re-signing Leonard, is the big focus following the franchise’s first-ever NBA championship.
