Mark Thompson rushed 13 times for 134 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Houston Gamblers to a 41-16 win over the Philadelphia Stars on Saturday.
Thompson opened the scoring on a 33-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He added a 10-yard TD in the second quarter and a 15-yard score in the third.
Houston (2-2), which led 27-7 at halftime, held a 465-199 edge in yards on offense over Philadelphia (1-3).
Gamblers quarterback Kenji Bahar was 15 of 21 for 230 yards. He tossed second-quarter touchdown passes to Anthony Ratliff-Williams (5 yards) and Keke Chism (54). Bahar, who did not throw an interception, injured his right ankle in the third quarter and left the game.
Chism added a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Stars’ Case Cookus was 24 of 36 for 189 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
