LOOK: Lou Gehrig paycheck from the Yankees being auctioned off

Yankees

For those serious sports collectors out there, we just came across a pretty awesome opportunity.

As ESPN’s Darren Rovell noted Wednesday evening, Steiner Sports is currently auctioning off a Lou Gehrig paycheck from his days with the New York Yankees.

The check itself — since cashed — was for $2,292.47. Taking into account inflation since 1930, that would be $34,736.82.  Notice how they subtracted two meals from the check? That’s next-level cheap from then-owner Jacob Ruppert.

Bidding is currently nearing $25,000 on the site. Yeah that’s less than what the check would be worth if one of the game’s best ever didn’t cash it.
