Atlanta Braves pitcher Sean Newcomb went an unorthodox route with his cleats for MLB’s Players Weekend, choosing to honor team legends with his shoes.
The cleats feature Atlanta’s trio of Hall of Fame starting pitchers from the 1990’s: Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and Tom Glavine, as well as manager Bobby Cox and Hank Aaron, to name a few.

The design on these is pretty cool, as the players are painted over the backdrop of the city and the stadium. It looks like Aaron — who wears a Milwaukee Braves cap — is painted over Milwaukee County Stadium, showing great attention to detail.
Baseball is a game fueled by history, so it’s great to see that side of things being appreciated this weekend. The attention and care put into this is especially wonderful. If the Players Weekend promotion happens again next year, hopefully we see more things like this.
