Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristan Thompson wanted everyone to know that his team has still won the past four Eastern Conference Titles.
In showing himself to be a bit offensive following the departure of LeBron James, Thompson put the entire conference on note.
Tristan Thompson: “We’re still 4-time Eastern Conference champions, so until you take us down from that, teams ain’t got much to say. Boston, Philly, they ain’t got much to say. Boston had homecourt Game 7 and lost. Philly, you guys almost got swept. Toronto – we know that story” pic.twitter.com/gnGqd4mGeM

This quote didn’t necessarily go over well with members of the Philadelphia 76ers. Both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid decided to respond.

Not to be outdone, Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris also had a response to throw in the direction of Mr. Thompson.
“Cut it out. Get that vacation ready early this year fam! Ain’t s**t going through the Cavs this year,” Morris wrote on Twitter.
The talking points in Cleveland over the past several days include a stance that they are still defending conference champs until proven otherwise.
Even then, not a single objective mind thinks this team stands a chance to earn a fifth consecutive NBA Finals trip. That possibility came to an end when James signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
In an NBA that’s been fully of petty, we fully expect Thompson’s words to come back to bite him once the regular season starts next month. Heck, it’s already happened.
