Joey Logano was fined $10,000 by NASCAR for wearing a modified right hand driving glove on Saturday during Cup Series qualifying at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

This was specifically a violation of sections 14.3.1.1 A & B & F of the NASCAR Cup Series Rule Book, which specifically cites ‘Responsibilities & Driver Protective Clothing/Equipment’.

This is in addition to a pre-race penalty handed down on Sunday, which required Logano, who posted the second fastest time in qualifying to start at the rear of the field and serve a drive-through penalty at the start of the Ambetter Health 400.

A pair of L1 penalties have been assessed against Stewart-Haas Racing as well.

Noah Gragson (No. 10) and Ryan Preece (No. 41) were both deducted 35 NASCAR Cup Series driver and owner points for a violation of sections 14.5.6.1 A & B & C of the NASCAR Cup Series Rule Book, which references ‘Roof Air Deflectors.’

Preece falls to 36th in the championship standings with zero points, 47 points below the playoff cutline, whereas before he was just 12 out.

Grgason falls to 43rd in the championship standings with negative six points, 53 points below the playoff cutline, whereas he was 18 points out.

Stewart Haas Racing has not yet commented on the penalty or if it plans to appeal.
