Lightning’s Patrick Maroon signs two-year extension

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Patrick Maroon signed a two-year, $2 million contract extension Tuesday.

Maroon, 33, was in line to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. He had been playing out the final campaign of a two-year, $1.8 million deal.

The winner of three consecutive Stanley Cups, Maroon has recorded 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 45 games this season with Tampa Bay.

Maroon has 260 points (108 goals, 152 assists) in 613 career games with the Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues and Lightning. He was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round of the 2007 NHL Draft.
