Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mark Giordano is week-to-week with a broken finger, head coach Sheldon Keefe said Thursday.
Giordano, 40, suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday’s game against the visiting Florida Panthers.
In 19 games with the Leafs this season, Giordano has one goal and four assists.
The Toronto native has 573 points (156 goals, 417 assists) in 1,122 games with the Calgary Flames (2005-21), Seattle Kraken (2021-22) and Maple Leafs.
To fill Giordano’s roster spot, the Leafs recalled defenseman Maxime Lajoie from the Toronto Marlies, their American Hockey League affiliate.
Lajoie, 26, has played in one game for the Leafs this season. Over parts of five seasons with the Ottawa Senators (2018-20), Carolina Hurricanes (2021-23) and Toronto, Lajoie has seven goals and eight assists in 71 games.
