LaVar Ball must adhere to the “speaking things into existence” line of thinking, because he isn’t letting up about saying Lonzo Ball will be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaking with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Ball essentially said as much.
“Oh, he’s going to be a Laker,” He said, per Shelburne. “I’m going to keep talking about it until it happens.”
This is also hardly the first time that LaVar Ball has made it clear he wants Lonzo to play for the Lakers. Heck, at one point he had to backtrack after saying his son would only play for the Lakers. Lonzo has also made it clear he’d love to play for his hometown Lakers, saying he’d rather play for Los Angeles than be the No. 1 overall pick.
The NBA Draft Lottery will take place on Tuesday, when Magic Johnson will represent the Lakers for this exciting event. The new general manager has said unequivocally that, despite other teams potentially being turned off by the antics of LaVar Ball, they would not turn him off from drafting Lonzo, if he’s the guy the Lakers want to take.
Los Angeles has a 15.6-percent chance to land the No. 1 overall pick in the lottery, a 15.7-percent chance to land No. 2 and a 15.6-percent chance at No. 3. If the Lakers end up with a pick outside the top three, then that pick would revert to the Philadelphia 76ers.
With all that in mind, there is no guarantee Johnson and the Lakers will even get a chance to draft Ball, despite what he and his father wish will happen.
