Los Angeles Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony left Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers just before halftime due to a right hamstring strain, and the team announced he would not return to the contest.

Anthony had seven points and two rebounds in 11 minutes, making two of his three 3-point attempts. He pulled up injured after taking a 13-foot jumper that missed the mark with 1:40 remaining before the break.

The Clippers had a 53-51 lead at the time of the injury and converted Anthony’s miss into a basket for a four-point advantage. Anthony left the court and went straight to the locker room.

It is just the latest setback for the Lakers, who were playing without star LeBron James (swollen left knee) for the fifth consecutive game. Star forward Anthony Davis was playing just his fifth game after a 17-game absence caused by his own knee injury.

Anthony, 37, entered play Thursday producing 13.6 rebounds and 4.2 rebounds per game. The veteran of 19 NBA seasons has averaged 22.6 points over 1,241 games with the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and the Lakers.
