As news broke Friday that Kawhi Leonard reportedly wants a trade from the San Antonio Spurs, all heck broke lose around the NBA world.
Los Angeles Lakers president Magic Johnson was seen running from the court during pre-draft workouts. Rumors swirled about potential landing spots. Articles were written about which team made the most sense. Fans took to ESPN’s Trade Machine to see if their respective team has an opportunity to land the All-Star.
Such is the nature of the beast when one of the game’s best players apparently becomes available on the trade block less than a week before the draft.
Las Vegas has now gotten into the act. Per Bovada, the Lakers themselves are seemingly the overwhelming favorites to land Leonard. Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics come in a distant second with Philadelphia finding itself with the third-best odds.
And the Kawhi odds per Bovada:
What team will Kawhi Leonard Play for Game 1 of the 2018-2019 season?
LA Lakers 5/7
Boston Celtics 15/4
Philadelphia 76ers 5/1
San Antonio Spurs 5/1
Cleveland Cavaliers 10/1
LA Clippers 10/1— Ira Winderman (@IraHeatBeat) June 15, 2018
As we noted earlier in the day, Los Angeles makes a ton of sense for numerous reasons. Namely, it can offer up a package centered around young star Brandon Ingram and potentially even Kyle Kuzma.
Such a trade wouldn’t necessarily preclude Los Angeles from adding two max-contract free agents in that of Paul George and LeBron James.
Vegas might have its favorite, but a lot has to be done before this potential trade becomes reality. That’s for sure.
