Kyrie Irving throws another parting shot at Cleveland

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving is on the verge of making his regular season debut with the Boston Celtics. He’s playing for a legitimate title contender. One might think that Irving would simply forget about his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and move forward with his NBA career.

But in a league that’s filled with pettiness at pretty much every level, that really doesn’t seem possible. Just ask Kyrie, who decided to throw one last parting shot in the direction of a city he starred in for six seasons.

“Boston, I’m driving in and (thinking), ‘I’m really playing in a real, live sports city?’”

Come on, Kyrie. Don’t do your former city that dirty. Sure Boston has a much more heralded sports history than Cleveland, but that doesn’t make any of this right.

Though, we must admit it, is pretty funny. It also adds more intrigue to Boston’s season-opening game against the Cavaliers in Cleveland. After all, we’re pretty sure fans of the home team will let Kyrie know exactly how they feel about him.

This comes after a late-summer stretch in which both Irving and LeBron James traded barbs with one another following the former’s trade request from the Cavaliers.

Get your popcorn ready, this is going to be an absolute blast.
