Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky will miss 6-8 weeks following a procedure for an upper-body injury, the team announced Monday.
Burakovsky was injured during Seattle’s 4-1 loss to the visiting New York Rangers on Saturday.
He fell awkwardly after a hit in the second period from Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba, who drew a boarding penalty.
The 28-year-old winger has two assists in six games this season.
Burakovsky has recorded 336 points (136 goals, 200 assists) in 574 games over 10 NHL seasons with the Washington Capitals (2014-19), Colorado Avalanche (2019-22) and Kraken.
Devin Shore is expected to replace Burakovsky in the lineup as Seattle opens a four-game road trip at Detroit on Tuesday.
