Kel’el Ware had 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead Indiana to an 89-80 home win over Wright State on Thursday.
Malik Reneau had 16 points and eight rebounds and Trey Galloway had 15 points for Indiana (3-0).
For Wright State (0-3), Andrew Welage scored 25 points on 7-of-10 shooting from 3-point range, Tanner Holden scored 22 and Alex Huibregtse added 15.
The Raiders played without leading scorer Trey Calvin, who missed the game with a shoulder injury.
Indiana shot 54.1 percent from the field overall (33 of 61) but was only 3 of 16 from 3-point range.
Wright State stayed in the game primarily because of 3-point shooting, going 11 of 26 from 3-point range.
Indiana held a 54-49 lead at halftime after shooting 20 of 30 (66.7 percent) from the field in the first half, and then built a 71-60 lead with 11:29 remaining.
Wright State answered with a 7-0 run to cut Indiana’s lead to 71-67 with 8:29 left, but Indiana had a response of its own.
The Hoosiers went on an 8-1 run to take a 79-68 lead with 6:16 remaining.
Wright State cut Indiana’s lead to 83-76 with 3:42 left after back-to-back 3-pointers by Welage.
But the Raiders couldn’t get any closer the rest of the game.
Indiana got off to a quick start, taking a 17-6 lead just 5:26 into the game.
The Hoosiers then built their lead to 28-13 with 10:10 remaining in the first half and then held a 46-33 lead with 4:24 to go before Wright State started to chip away.
The Raiders went on an 8-1 run to make it 47-41 Indiana with 3:17 left until halftime, and then cut the Indiana lead to 50-48 with 1:44 to go.
