Karmine Corp captures Rocket League Winter Split Major

Karmine Corp rallied for a 4-2 win over FaZe Clan on Sunday to claim the Rocket League Championship Series Winter Split Major championship in San Diego.

FaZe Clan jumped out to a 2-1 lead before Karmine Corp took the final three rounds to earn $100,000 of the event’s $310,000 prize pool. The title also was worth 40 Rocket League Championship Series points. FaZe Clan received $60,000 and 32 RLCS points as runner-up.

After Karmine took Mannfield (Night) 2-0, FaZe prevailed 2-0 on Forbidden Temple and 2-0 on DFH Stadium. Karmine then claimed Utopia Coliseum (Dusk) 7-0, Wasteland (Night) 3-2 and Neo Tokyo 2-1 to wrap up the championship.

Morocco’s Amine “itachi” Benayachi and France’s Brice “ExoTiiK” Bigeard each averaged 0.83 goals for Karmine, while teammate Axel “Vatira” Touret of France averaged 0.67 goals.

Jason “Firstkiller” Corral and Nick “mist” Costello both averaged 0.50 goals for FaZe Clan’s all-U.S. squad, with teammate Caden “Sypical” Pellegrin averaging 0.17 goals.

In the semifinals earlier Sunday, Karmine Corp eliminated Team Liquid 4-2 and FaZe Clan ousted Complexity Gaming 4-3.
