Kansas City Chiefs players rip their owner and team facilities in NFL PA survey

A new survey of the Kansas City Chiefs roster from August to November of last season reveals a group very frustrated with their current workplace conditions despite delivering an on-field product that has helped the franchise reach dynasty status.

Earlier this month, the Chiefs stamped their place as the current dynasty in North American sports when they won a second straight Super Bowl title and their third in the last five years. It was a monumental achievement that few teams in the NFL’s illustrious history have been able to achieve.

With such unique success comes a great deal of added revenue, and one would assume that revenue would be put back into team facilities and staff to keep the championship window wide open for as long as possible. However, an all-new survey of players around the league reveals that the Chiefs ownership has done very little to improve the workplace despite the franchise’s value being at an all-time high.

On Wednesday, the NFL Players Association released their annual survey of their membership to get the thoughts of players on their current work environment. As many as 1,706 took part in the survey and the results for the Kansas City Chiefs were shockingly bad.

Among the 32 franchises, the organization got the second-worst score in the NFL. While head coach Any Reid received an A+ from his players (the highest of any coach in the survey), players were still “frustrated by their workplace offerings, especially after the team’s sustained success in recent years.”

The survey asks athletes to grade the franchise in 11 different categories, including treatment of families, training staff, team travel, head coach, and ownership. While Reid earned an A+ from Kansas City Chiefs players, owner Clark Hunt received a shocking F-. Three other categories including training staff received Fs.

Aside from the head coach, the only categories that got below a D were the food/cafeteria (C-), weight room (C+), and strength coaches (C+). Treatment of families also had a surprising grade of D+.

It is shocking to see a team that has benefited so much from the impressive play of their players not reward them with a better workplace than the defending champions had last season.
