A new report claims that the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL are trying to make sure the audio from the infamous Super Bowl LVIII sideline exchange between Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid is never heard by the public.

While it has been over a week since the 2023-24 NFL season came to a close with Super Bowl 58, the members of the Kansas City Chiefs roster are still likely celebrating their victory over the San Francisco 49ers. And why not, not only did they win an NFL title but they became the first team in two decades to win back-to-back Super Bowls.

However, the road to the Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime victory did have some bumpy moments, the most notable of which was a shocking first-half exchange where superstar tight end Travis Kelce was caught on camera yelling at head coach Andy Reid and bumping him. Little is known about what was said outside of speculation based on the moment from those around the league.

NFL Films actually has audio of the incident since Kelce was mic’d up for the game by the production company, but it seems we will never find out what was said.

Kansas City Chiefs reportedly blocked release of Travis Kelce-Andy Reid exchange audio

On Tuesday, the New York Post reported “Two people highly plugged into the sports media business told The Post they suspect the Chiefs blocked NFL Films — which captures the mic’d up audio — and “Inside the NFL” from airing the direct Kelce sound bite, with one saying he thought that this edict came from Reid.”

It is certainly interesting that the franchise and Reid are allegedly taking this approach if there was nothing too scandalous said in the heat of the moment. Since Kelce quickly apologized for the incident soon after the game it certainly seems like something harsh was said by Kelce that could damage his reputation if released to the public.
