Jordan Pope scored a career-high 25 points and added seven rebounds and five assists as Oregon State defeated visiting Appalachian State 81-71 in overtime Tuesday night in Corvallis, Ore.

Tyler Bilodeau totaled 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Beavers (3-0), who defeated Troy 81-80 in double overtime in their previous game. Dexter Akanno added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists and KC Ibekwe scored a career-best 10 with eight boards.

Terence Harcum led four Appalachian State players in double-figures with 18 points. Donovan Gregory scored 17, Christopher Mantis added 12 and Justin Abson had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Mountaineers (1-2).
Gregory made a putback of his own miss as time expired in regulation to tie the score at 63-all.

The Beavers opened overtime with a 7-0 run and Appalachian State never got closer than five points the rest of the way. Akanno scored seven points in the extra period.

After leading by 11 at the half, the Beavers missed 17 of their first 20 shots after the intermission.
Appalachian State pulled ahead 50-49 on a driving layup by Gregory with 9:04 remaining. It was the Mountaineers’ first lead since 9:15 was left in the first half.

Pope’s jumper with 7:23 left in regulation provided OSU’s first points by someone other than Bilodeau in the second half.

Pope made a 3-pointer with 5:05 left to make it 56-52. A layup by Ibekwe with 4:09 to go made it 60-53.
But Appalachian State rallied again. Mantis’ 3-pointer tied it at 61-all with 1:37 to go.

Ibekwe grabbed an offensive rebound and made the putback with 1:10 left before Gregory tied it at the buzzer.

Oregon State took a 43-32 halftime lead. Pope scored 17 points, making all six of his field-goal attempts. That included a 3-pointer nearly from the Beavers’ logo at midcourt as the shot clock wound down.
