Joakim Noah is probably headed to join his buddy Derek Rose with the New York Knicks, based on an Instagram message posted Friday.
Here is Noah posing with a Knicks hat, with the caption “Jah bless.”
It’s been rumored since Rose was traded to New York from Chicago that the Knicks would be pursuing Noah to help out down low. The two of them were teammates in Chicago and have a good relationship on and off the court.
The latest report indicates he could be signing a deal that would pay him $18 million per year, which seems like an awful lot for a guy whose production has diminished of late in his career.
Still, with shooters galore already on New York’s offense, and with Robin Lopez gone to Chicago in the Rose trade, the Knicks are in need of low-post help. While Noah isn’t an offensive force, he is adept at offensive rebounding and can still contest as well as anyone on the defensive side.
Therefore it would appear this is a good match. And, while nothing is official yet, it would appear he’s already made up his mind to join Rose in the Big Apple.
