While the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott remain without a contract extension, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones helped Prescott’s case on Friday by comparing him to a future Hall of Famer.
When asked if Prescott compared more to Tony Romo or Troy Aikman, Jones said he compares better to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
While Jones made it clear that Prescott isn’t Brady, he clearly believes that Dallas’ franchise quarterback can further evolve into what Brady became.
It’s certainly high praise to compare Prescott to arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history. He has proven this season that he’s taking his game to another level and could become an MVP-caliber quarterback very soon.
When Prescott’s agent negotiates a long-term extension with the Cowboys, he can bring up Jones’ quote as further evidence that Dallas should pay its star as one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks.
