New Cleveland Browns star Jerry Jeudy lands absurd contract extension after trade

The Cleveland Browns were able to land star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos for two late-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. That included a fifth-and-sixth-round selection.

Jeudy, 24 had been on the trade block for some time now after Denver selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The former Alabama standout did not necessarily live up to expectations during his time with Denver, failing to record as much as a 1,000-yard performance in any of his four seasons as a member of the Broncos.

That did not top Cleveland from handing Jeudy a massive contract extension after acquiring him from Denver. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Jeudy receives a three-year contract worth up to $58 million. The deal comes with $41 million fully guaranteed at the time of the signing.

These are just some crazy numbers for a player who has not lived up to expectations after entering the NFL with a ton of fanfare.

What Jerry Jeudy contract extension means for NFL wide receiver market

Denver Broncos' Jerry Jeudy

This comes after veteran wide receiver Calvin Ridley landed a four-year, $92 million contract with the Tennessee Titans during NFL free agency.

Ridley’s deal came with $46.98 million guaranteed at signing and a total of $50 million in guarantees.

Despite the wide receiver market being slim during free agency, we’ve still seen players at this position get paid big time.

  • Jerry Jeudy stats (2023): 54 receptions, 758 yards, 2 TD, 62.1% catch rate

Jeudy’s deal will obviously play a role in potential extensions for the likes of Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings), Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) and CeeDee Lamb (Dallas Cowboys). Meanwhile, San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk is reportedly on the trade block himself.
