Jeremy Maclin “I Still Believe in Chip Kelly”

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has now signed on with his original head coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now that the dust has settled, it appears that Maclin doesn’t harbor any ill feelings when it comes to Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and how his tenure in Philadelphia came to an end.

Maclin shared his support for Kelly with the Philadelphia Inquirer.

I still believe in Chip. I think Chip’s going to do great things here. I have the utmost respect for him. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get something worked out. But at the end of the day I’m very excited about playing for Kansas City and playing for Big Red.

As for Maclin’s time playing under Kelly in Philadelphia, he missed the entire 2013 season before putting up career-best numbers in receptions (85), yards (1,318) and touchdowns (10) last year.

After failing to come to an agreement with Philadelphia, Maclin signed a five-year, $55 million contract with Reid and the Chiefs.

When Maclin was posed with a question regarding the major changes in Philadelphia, he had this to say:

If you would have told me two years ago that that would be the case, I would have laughed. This is a business, man. Things like that happen.

As it relates to Kelly, opinions are mixed. Some think he has made brilliant changes, while another group thinks he’s a mad scientist.

It is interesting that Maclin supports Kelly considering he was one of the casualties of his former coach’s bold decisions.
