Former world No. 1 golfer Jason Day of Australia withdrew from the John Deere Classic with a back injury on Thursday.
Day, who is now 137th in the Official World Golf Ranking, was replaced in the field by Ted Potter at the tournament based in Silvis, Ill.
The 34-year-old Day has 12 PGA Tour victories, including the 2015 PGA Championship. He also finished tied for second in the 2011 Masters in addition to posting second-place finishes at the 2011 and 2013 U.S. Opens.
