Like most receivers do with Petyon Manning, James Jones made a living having Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback. Jones, a 3rd round pick in 2007, was relatively a “no-one” until a few years ago. After putting up huge numbers in 2012, Jones was dinged up and was not much of a factor in 2014.
Now Jones has no quarterback in Oakland. How’d that work for Randy Moss after he was traded from the Vikings? The Raiders may draft a quarterback in May, but there’s no real franchise guy this year. The Raiders need weapons, that’s not debatable, but signing Jones to a $11.3m deal isn’t exactly going to “move the needle” much. Maybe the Raiders can pair Jones with Sammy Watkins an hope they land a quarterback later in the draft who can make throws to guys in Black jerseys.
