Jameis Winston Reportedly Met with the New Orleans Saints

A handful of quarterback-needy teams with early first-round picks in the upcoming draft met with Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston at the NFL Scouting Combine.

However, one of the somewhat more surprising of teams who reportedly met with Winston was the New Orleans Saints.

Probably just an act of due diligence, it is still intriguing that the Saints—selecting 13th overall—chose to meet with the person who will potentially be the first pick in the upcoming draft. If for some wacky reason Winston slips to the 13th pick, the Saints will have already gathered the information they need to make a proper decision.

With that said, the Saints’ franchise quarterback Drew Brees is 36-years-old and entering into his 15th season in the NFL. At some point sooner rather than later, the Saints are going to need to move on to a young signal caller.

Since the likelihood that the Saints could even end up with the opportunity to select Winston is super-slim, they probably just wanted to check out the quarterback who will likely be their NFC South competition twice next season. This is providing that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select the former Florida State standout No. 1 overall.
