Bjoern Werner’s career with the Indianapolis Colts didn’t work out quite as planned. The former first-round draft pick was waived by Indianapolis in March. He is getting a second chance in the NFL, as the Jacksonville Jaguars signed their former AFC South rival.

In three seasons with the Colts, Werner recorded only 6.5 sacks. None of those sacks came in 2015, which all but sealed his fate with the franchise.
Werner will not only have the chance to stay within a familiar division, but signing with Jacksonville gives him a chance to return to Florida, where he starred for three years at Florida State University. Werner was a dominant force in college, tallying 23.5 sacks from 2010-2012 for the Seminoles.
Werner figures to see time at defensive end for the Jaguars, who run a 4-3 base defense. In Jacksonville, he will compete for playing time with Malik Jackson and Dante Fowler Jr., both of whom are also new to the team.
