The Jacksonville Jaguars will have a new sheriff in town under center next season. The team officially signed former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles to a four-year contract on Wednesday.
That had been widely speculated. It was also believed that former top-three pick Blake Bortles would be jettisoned from Duval.
This is now official. Jacksonville has released the former Central Florida star after five seasons with the team.

Bortles, 26, fellow out of favor big time this past season. He threw just 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions en route to leading Jacksonville to a 3-9 record in 12 starts. Bortles was ultimately benched in favor of Cody Kessler.
This move comes about a calendar year after Jacksonville committed a long-term contract to Bortles. Needless to say, it wasn’t that long term.
Bortles ends his largely disappointing career in Jacksonville having thrown 103 touchdowns compared to 75 interceptions while sporting a 24-49 record in 73 starts.
