This is incredibly sweet, so have some tissue handy. Newly drafted Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback A.J. McCarron met a special friend a couple of years ago before Alabama’s 2012 title game against LSU. This special person, who was in the hospital at the time, was five-year old Starla Chapman, who was battling leukiemia and a heart condition.
According to Fox Sports:
At a hospital on Christmas Eve, McCarron handed Starla, who was wearing an Alabama cheerleading uniform, a gift. She, in return, gave him a yellow bracelet reading “Just Trust,” which he wore as the Crimson Tide knocked off LSU to win the championship. Just months later, Starla’s cancer was in remission.
Just picturing this scene tugs at my heart.
Well, McCarron and fiancee Katherine Webb fell in love, not with each other again, but with this sweet little girl who loves Alabama football. So, Starla has been asked to be the flower girl in the McCarron/Webb wedding. The couple got engaged on March 28 and has plans to marry on July 11 at a possibly televised event.
This wedding would be worth watching solely for this amazing story.
