Gordon Hayward’s debut with the Boston Celtics ended in nauseating fashion, but the horrible leg injury hasn’t stopped him from getting up some shots.
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge shared a picture of Hayward, leg cast and all, sitting on a chair just inside the free-throw line.
The All-Star forward certainly can’t run, but his form looks great.
Hayward’s 2017-18 season ended in the first quarter of the first game, when an awkward fall resulted in a dislocated left ankle and fractured tibia. He has since undergone surgery and will miss the remainder of the year while recovering.
In the meantime, the Celtics have rattled off eight straight wins and stand atop the Eastern Conference. Kyrie Irving is averaging 21.0 points and 5.6 assists, while Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have effectively replaced Hayward’s expected production.
Boston will enjoy his contributions next season, but in the meantime, Hayward will be practicing in any way possible.
