Ex-NBA star Iman Shumpert’s divorce from songstress Teyana Taylor may have been finalized last year, but the drama is far from over.

The two have been officially divorced since July 2024, but they’ve been the subject of reports about their settlement and the splitting of their assets. Taylor accused Shumpert of leaking false information to the media about their alleged divorce settlement in an attempt to fuel his rap music career, according to an E! News report published last week. She apparently asked the Georgia court to hold Shumpert in contempt.

In her petition, Taylor claims she and Shumpert never actually reached a settlement when the divorce was finalized last year, at which time the case was sealed. “The parties never entered into any ‘Settlement’ at all,” her filing states, “and everything that either party received in the divorce (finalized on July 1, 2024) was awarded by the Court.” She asked the court to issue Shumpert the maximum fine of $1,000 and send him to jail for 20 days. Taylor also alleged the reports broke after she posted pictures of herself with actor Aaron Pierre at Vanity Fair’s 2025 Oscars after-party.

“On March 3, 2025, Oscar night, [Taylor] posted black and white photos of herself and another actor,” Taylor’s petition reads. “Not surprisingly, just days later, a huge story about a false ‘Divorce Settlement’ between the parties pops up, just in time to help promote [Shumpert]’s newly-released new rap song.”

Shumpert performs under the stage name IMAN. and released “Get it, got it, good, cut” in early March.

The former first-round pick denies the allegations. “My client, Mr. Iman Shumpert, has never whatsoever leaked any allegations or claims stated in any of the pleadings in” the Taylor-Shumpert divorce case,” his lawyer, Stephen C. Steele, told TMZ Sports. “Mr. Shumpert adamantly denies that he has provided any information to any media.”

“Specifically, but without limitations, he denies that he leaked any information which may have served as the basis for the multiple news reports preceding the trial of this matter.

The ex-couple tied the knot in 2016 and share daughters Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., 9, and Rue Rose Shumpert, 4.
