How is Richard Sherman Related to Josh Gordon’s Possible Suspension?

Josh Gordon

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is facing a possible season-long suspension for allegedly violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Comments made by former Browns’ wide receiver Greg Little that a possible mistake in testing could have resulted in something similar to what happened to Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman in 2012.

Little told SiriusXM NFL Radio (via Fox Sports)…

€œHe’s a guy that’s going to work to get back and show this is a mistake, Little told co-host Bill Polian and me about Gordon on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “€œIt’s something that wasn’t in his control, so to speak. I don’t want to get into too much detail about it.

Gordon also could potentially try to appeal based upon the belief that the testing process was flawed. Last year, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman had a four-game suspension under the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy overturned by arguing that the testing protocol was compromised by a leaky cup containing his urine sample.

In another life, Sherman should be a defense attorney. I’m just saying.

It would be a shame to see Gordon suspended for the whole season for possibly just a little after-hours relaxation device. Doesn’t the NFL really have bigger fish to fry with the extracurricular activities of say Ray Rice, accused for domestic violence, and Aldon Smith and his laundry list of illegal escapades?

In the meantime, Gordon continues to participate in offseason workouts while he waits for word on the appeal of the suspension.
