Is Herschel Walker Still NFL Quality?

Former NFL running back Herschel Walker, originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1985 and played in the NFL for 12 seasons, still believes at age 52 that he’s got what it takes to still play in the NFL.

According to USA Today,

I can play in the NFL today…I couldn’t take every snap. But running backs nowadays don’t play every down. Now they send in the choir section. “Physically, I can still do it.

Looking back through our history books, Jim Thorpe of the Chicago Cardinals, at age 40 in 1928, was the oldest running back to play in an NFL game.

Being 52 isn’t exactly “old” when speaking generally, but being 52 and an active running back getting tackled by 300 pound guys, could make 52 look elderly, pretty quickly. Nevertheless, it doesn’t appear Walker is serious about playing in the NFL as much as he’d just like to think he was able to. Also note that it was just in 2011 when Walker, who practiced mixed martial arts, last won his last fight. I have to admit, Walker looks quite amazing here.

As reported by ESPN, it looks like Walker may have bigger ideas in mind, like possibly joining forces with the “Donald” himself.

He would be a great owner, and a credible owner,” said Walker, who starred for Trump’s New Jersey Generals of the USFL in the 1980s.

People can think what they want to think about Jerry Jones — he’s a terrible general manager, but he’s a great owner. He has done a tremendous job in marketing his team to keep it relevant. I think that’s the same thing Donald Trump would do with the Buffalo Bills.

What do you think? Would you like to see Walker back on the field, sitting in an owner’s booth with Donald Trump, or none of the above?
