The Los Angeles Guerrillas won two matches in the elimination bracket on Friday to stay alive in the Call of Duty League Stage 2 Major in Miami.
After beating the Los Angeles Thieves in their first match 3-1, the Guerrillas eliminated the Minnesota Rokkr in the second round, also by a 3-1 score. On Saturday, they will face the loser of one of two upper-bracket matches.
In their first match, the Rokkr knocked out the Breach 3-2. The Carolina Royal Ravens swept the tourney host Miami Heretics 3-0, and the Vegas Legion dumped the Seattle Surge 3-1.
The Ravens and Legion will meet Saturday in an eliminated round 2 match.
All 12 CDL teams played seven qualifying matches ahead of the Stage 2 Major, which runs through next Sunday in Miami. Every team advanced to the double-elimination tournament, with the qualifying matches determining seeding. The top eight teams in the qualifying standings got a bye in the first round of the tournament.
The winning team gets $150,000 of the event’s $375,000 prize pool. The winner also gets 100 CDL points.
The Rokkr opened their match with the Guerrillas with a 250-227 win on Karachi Hardpoint, but then Los Angeles took over. The Guerrillas won on Karachi Search & Destroy (6-3), Karachi Control (3-1) and Skidrow Hardpoint (250-179).
