This is some incredibly sobering and sad news. Young Green Bay Packers running back Johnathan Franklin, who seemed to have a bright future ahead of himself on the football field, is likely going to have to be forced from the game due to a neck injury he suffered as a rookie in 2013.
Packers’ head coach Mike McCarthy indicated on Thursday afternoon that they will have an announcement to make on Franklin’s situation on Friday. He also went on to say that Franklin will not be back with the team.
MM: I have some unfortunate news about Johnathan Franklin. Organization will address it tomorrow. He will not be back with us.

Franklin suffered a neck injury on the opening kickoff against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12 last year. He was placed on season-ending injured reserve the following day. The UCLA product was selected in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft.
