Golden State Warriors viewed as a serious contender for 2-time All-Star before trade deadline

Although the Golden State Warriors have had a disappointing season so far in 2023-24, it seems the organization believes a blockbuster trade for a two-time All-Star could help turn around their fortunes and get them back into title contention.

It has been another messy season for the Golden State Warriors. While 2022-23 had a unique set of drama, it has been topped by what they have endured this season. Draymond Green had been unable to keep his emotions under control. Klay Thompson has gotten old fast, and Jonathan Kuminga seems to be unhappy with his role despite a breakout campaign.

It has all led to the 2022-23 champions being under .500 to start the new year and barely holding on to a playoff spot. It has made many experts wonder if they will be sellers at the NBA trade deadline. However, a new report suggests they could actually instead be a serious contender for one of the top players available before Feb. 8.

Golden State Warriors reportedly won’t put Jonathan Kuminga in the potential Pascal Siakam trade

A few days ago, TNT Sports NBA insider Chris Haynes gave an update on the potential suitors for Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam and the Warriors being a dark horse contender.

“Teams I’m told are linked to Pascal for sure, Atlanta, Indiana — Indiana’s been linked to him for a while — Sacramento,” Haynes said. “But there’s a wild [card] team out there that I’ve been told to look out for by rival executives. Not to say that anything is going down now, but the Golden State Warriors. … Pascal Siakam, I was told, could end up being on the Golden State Warriors radar.”

There have been reports linking the Warriors to Siakam for a couple of years, and now seems as good a time as ever for a deal to happen with the two-time All-Star heading to free agency after this season. However, another report from the last couple of days also notes that the organization is “loathe” to put Kuminga in a deal for Siakam.
