Golden Knights left winger William Carrier will return from an upper-body injury Friday against the New York Rangers, Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed Thursday.

Carrier, who hasn’t played since Jan. 14 after sustaining the injury against the Edmonton Oilers, is nevertheless still tied for fifth on the team with 11 goals this season. Overall, he has 16 points in 43 games played.

Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore, who has been out since Dec. 9, has made progress on his lower body injury and is close to a return, but he will be a game-time decision for Friday.

“I’m pretty close,” Theodore said. “I think it still depends on what the coaches and trainers are saying, but as of right now, I feel pretty good.”

Theodore, 27, has 22 points (four goals, 18 assists) in 29 games this season.

The Golden Knights could use the good news after falling into a first-place tie in the Pacific Division with the Kraken after Seattle drubbed the Vancouver Canucks 6-1 on Wednesday.

Vegas, which lost to the host New Jersey Devils 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday, is 1-4-1 in its past six games. The Golden Knights are two games into a six-game road trip.
