Giannis’ agent: ‘Giannis believes in loyalty’, staying in Milwaukee is viable

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t be eligible for NBA free agency until 2021, but NBA fans are already getting excited about the possibility of the NBA MVP joining their team. However, Bucks fans might have renewed hope for their star staying in Milwaukee after recent comments from Giannis’ agent.

Alex Saratsis, who represents Giannis, talked about what makes Giannis such a special player and person, specifically mentioning a trait that might give the Bucks an edge when the NBA star decides his future.

“Giannis believes in loyalty, he believes in the people who’ve been there with him from the beginning,” Saratsis said, via TMJ4. “I think he feels that kinship to the city because they have really helped raise him.”

The Bucks took a chance on Giannis with the No. 15 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and after two years of developing and adjusting to the game, he started blossoming into one of the league’s biggest stars.

After winning the NBA MVP Award in 2019, Giannis has taken his game to another level this season. He’s setting career-highs with 30 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game, all while the Bucks hold the NBA’s best record at the All-Star Break.

When Saratsis was asked if Giannis is a player who could spend his entire career with one organization, he provided basketball fans in Milwaukee with even more reason for optimism.

“Yeah, I think so. Obviously everybody talks about his impending free agency, and I think everything is open,” Saratsis said, via TMJ4. “I think he’s someone who could easily say, ‘I’d like to be in Milwaukee my entire career.’ I think he’s also someone who, depending on how the team does, could say, ‘I need a change.’ But for him, staying is absolutely a viable option.”

Fortunately, the Bucks have put themselves in position to contend for an NBA title this season and their window will likely remain open as long as Giannis remains in Milwaukee. While there will be plenty of suitors coming after Giannis in 2021, at least the Bucks have a chance to keep their star.
