WATCH: Foul ball fail results in beer bath for unlucky fan

Rangers fans foul ball fail resulted in a beer bath

As one Texas Rangers fan found out on Tuesday night. When you’re within range of a foul ball at a baseball game, nothing is safe. Not even your beer.

New York Mets catcher Travis d’Arnaud hit a foul ball into the seats. One fan tried to make a play on the ball, but he missed and missed spectacularly. When he did, the ball fell directly into the beer cup of one of his row mates.

The fan who originally missed the ball eventually came up with it. It had a happy enough ending though. As Jessica Kleinschmidt of MLB.com detailed, “The fan that received the ball seemed to feel bad about the outcome, and decided to offer up the ball to her as her own souvenir.”

That’s certainly the nice thing to do.

As far as overall mayhem goes, this one doesn’t quite match what Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt did in 2016 to the entire food tray of a fan in San Francisco.

What happened in Texas was bad, but not quite on that level of mass destruction.
