Former NFL quarterback and Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Wilson was celebrating his 60th birthday on Friday when he passed away.

Nick Eatman of the team’s official website shared the sad news, noting Wilson was with the Cowboys organization for more than 16 years.

As a player, Wilson began his career with the Minnesota Vikings back in 1981. An eighth-round pick, he spent 17 years in the league, playing for the Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Cowboys, and finishing off his career with the Oakland Raiders in 1998.

Over the course of his career, Wilson compiled a 36-33 record as a starter, passing for 17,283 yards with 99 touchdowns and 102 interceptions.

Following his playing career, Wilson coached quarterbacks, first with Dallas from 2000-02, then with the Chicago Bears from 2004-06, and then back again with Dallas from 2007-17.

May he Rest In Peace.
