Former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is joining Florida State for the 2024 season.
He passed for 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns in his lone season with the Beavers after transferring from Clemson.
Uiagalelei is 30-10 in his college career.
“I’m excited to have DJ join the Nole Family,” head coach Mike Norvell said in a statement Tuesday. “He is a proven winner, and his record as a starting quarterback is impressive. He has showcased incredible leadership on the field, and how he treats people off the field is remarkable. DJ is an extremely hard worker who is excited to continue to develop in this system and be around the great playmakers we have here. DJ adds a great deal of experience, talent and play-making ability into a quarterback room that we are extremely excited about as we enter 2024. He has great size and ability, is incredibly accurate pushing the ball down the field and is one of the top quarterbacks in the country in big-play percentage. I am thrilled to be adding this talented football player, dedicated student and wonderful person into our Nole Family.”
Uiagalelei had been deciding whether to choose a third school or enter the 2024 NFL Draft. His decision gives Florida State experience at the position after losing Jordan Travis. Travis, who ended the season injured, is out of eligibility. Backup Tate Rodemaker entered the transfer portal.
True freshman Brock Glenn started the final two games of the season for Florida State — the ACC Championship against Louisville and a 63-3 blowout loss to Georgia last week in the Orange Bowl.
Uiagalelei had a career year at Oregon State in 2023 with an 8-4 regular season. He added 219 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground.
His career totals with the Beavers and Tigers (2020-22) include 8,319 passing yards, 57 TDs and 24 interceptions.
