Calgary Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety on Sunday, one day after he cross-checked Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann.
Mangiapane cross-checked McCann twice — once to the leg, the second to the back of his head — after the latter went down on the ice to block his shot at 8:45 of the first period. Mangiapane received a match penalty on the play for Calgary, which overcame the penalty in a 6-3 win in Seattle.
McCann, 27, briefly exited the game before returning to the bench prior to the end of the period.
Mangiapane, 27, has seven points (four goals, three assists) in 11 games this season.
He has totaled 182 points (99 goals, 83 assists) in 353 career games since being selected by the Flames in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft.
