FC Dallas acquired center back Joshue Quinonez on loan from Ecuador’s Barcelona SC Guayaquil for the rest of the 2022 season.
The deal announced Thursday includes an option to exercise a permanent transfer in December.
Dallas traded $100,000 in general allocation money (GAM) to the Portland Timbers in exchange for Quinonez’s discovery priority. The Timbers filed a claim on Quinonez before Dallas. Portland will receive another $150,000 in GAM if the permanent transfer option is exercised by Dallas and the amount paid is lower than $2 million.
Quinonez, 20, will occupy an international roster slot. He’ll join the club pending the processing of his paperwork.
He appeared in 11 matches overall for Barcelona over two seasons and has one cap with Ecuador’s national team.
