Ezekiel Elliott has yet to respond to Cowboys offer, per report

Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys officially placed star running back Ezekiel Elliott on the did not report list on Friday. This means he’s now a holdout from the team’s training camp as the back looks for a record-breaking contract extension.

In talking about the situation at hand, NFL Media’s Jane Slater notes that Elliott and his camp has yet to submit a counter offer in negotiations with the Cowboys.

We’re not 100 percent sure what this means. One might think that Elliott’s camp would like to get a lay of the land before this holdout continues much longer.

As it is, Elliott remains away from camp. There’s no telling how long this holdout is going to last, but the end does not seem to be in sight.

Elliott, 24, led the NFL in rush attempts (304), rushing yards (1,434) and touches (381) while putting up north of 2,000 total yards last season.

His situation is a bit complicated due to an ongoing criminal investigation surrounding the running back in Las Vegas.
