The San Jose Earthquakes acquired forward Preston Judd in a trade from the Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday for $200,000 in general allocation money.
The Galaxy can acquire another $50,000 in general allocation money based on performance incentives.
Asked to play a larger role in the Galaxy’s offense than expected last season due to injuries at forward, the 24-year-old Judd scored three goals with two assists in 17 games. The Las Vegas native made six starts.
“Preston is a physical and energetic young forward with the ability to finish,” Earthquakes general manager Chris Leitch said in a statement. “He has worked hard over the years to earn his place in Major League Soccer and will be an asset to our front line.”
San Jose scored 39 goals in the 2023 regular season, tied for 22nd in the 29-team league.
