It might have taken a while for reigning Heisman finalist Jalen Hurts to get a shot. But the Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie second-round pick will get his shot Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints.

Jalen Hurts named Eagles starter
Hurts is forced into the starting role with Philadelphia’s NFL Playoff hopes on life support. He replaces high-priced struggling quarterback Carson Wentz under center as the Eagles’ starter.
A lot of focus in Philadelphia and around the NFL world has been on Wentz. However, Hurts is a tremendous story himself.
A former top recruit of Alabama, Hurts actually led the Crimson Tide to the College Football Championship over Georgia as a sophomore back in 2017. Unfortunately, he was replaced under center by eventual Miami Dolphins top-five pick Tua Tagovailoa a year later.
Jalen Hurts ultimately transferred to Oklahoma in order to work under famed head coach Lincoln Riley in Norman.
Looking to continue with the tremendous Sooners quarterback play that saw Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray earn the Heisman in the two years leading up to his arrival, Jalen Hurts dominated in his only season with Oklahoma.
The dude put up north of 5,200 total yards with 52 touchdowns and just eight interceptions en route to leading Oklahoma to a 12-2 record. Jalen Hurts would have come away with the Heisman if it had not been for the record-setting performance of Joe Burrow at LSU.

Now, nearly a calendar year removed from his final college start, Hurts will have an opportunity to prove himself on the grandest of stages in the NFL.
It comes with Philadelphia at 3-8-1 on the season and riding a four-game losing streak. Despite this, the Eagles are just one game behind both Washington and the New York Giants in the loss column in the NFC East. Talk about pressure.
