Donte DiVincenzo scored 31 points to propel the Villanova Wildcats to the 2018 national championship, and he’s now decided to put one foot into the NBA draft pool.
According to a school release, DiVincenzo will participate in the pre-draft process but will not hire an agent. That will allow him to retain his college eligibility and return to Villanova.
DiVincenzo averaged 13.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 2017-18. He earned a place on the NCAA All-Tournament team thanks to his 31-point explosion in the championship, though he shot a scorching 50 percent from three-point distance in March Madness.
That shooting range is DiVincenzo’s primary appeal to the next level. Over 85 appearances at Villanova, he’s knocked down 37.8 percent from beyond the arc. His ability to distribute the ball will also be valued.
DiVincenzo has until June 11 to formally withdraw from or keep his name in NBA draft consideration.
